Как бы хотелось, чтобы всё не было так печально. В Берии-колледже студентам, обучающимся 4 года, выдаётся одноразовая материальная помощь в $200 на тёплую одежду. Увы, это не распространяется на студентов по обмену. Нам ещё на ориентационной сессии об этом говорили, но сбило с толку следующее письмо. Его отправили ВСЕМ интернациональным студентам.

Warm Clothes Shopping!!! Saturday, October 9^th From 1:00 to 5:00

It’s getting cold outside!  This Saturday, the International Center is providing the opportunity for incoming International students to shop for winter clothes at the beginning of the new season.  A grant is available to each student for the purpose of buying warm clothes – continue reading for further details. Transportation will be provided for students to go to Goodwill, Morgan’s, and Walmart to find the best buys on clothes to keep you warm for a Kentucky winter!  International students who have experienced winter here will come along to help you find what you need. If you want to take advantage of the Warm Clothes Grant, stop by the Financial Aid Office, on October 8, 2010 between 8:30am-Noon and 1-4:15pm (funding will not be released before then), and fill out the paperwork, then go to the Service Center in Lincoln Hall to pick up $200.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that you use this money only for winter clothes.  It is not meant for the term bill or any other expenses.  As you can tell, it’s already cold outside and will get colder! In order to go on the shopping trip, you should also sign up in the International Office in Woods-Penn 205 by Friday, Oct. 8^th at 5:00.  Keep in mind that the office will be closed for Mountain Day, Oct. 6^th. So sign up and be prepared to meet at Alumni Circle, Saturday at 12:45. Hope to see you all there!

Мы сразу подумали, что раз наши имена включили в рассылку, значит, можно забыть обо всём, что говорили на ориентации. И пошли взять эти 200 долларов. Вечером пришло другое письмо. Оно сообщает, что на наш студенческий долговой счёт записали эти снятые днём деньги.

 Due to your status as a non-degree seeking student you are not eligible for the grant providing financial assistance for warm clothing. The emergency loan was awarded to you in error. The $200 has been charged to your student account and will need to be paid be the end of the semester. Thank you,
